How Long Stalk Became a Flower Interactive Storytime is easily adapted to age groups from Toddler to Grade 1 Curriculum and higher grades.
For Toddler age children, the Interactive Storytime Experience becomes one of visual and sensory. The Talking Stick is passed around as part of introducing their individual names and favorite color; and the show and tell artifacts are only identified by name. with a very short description.
For older Preschool-Kindergarten age children who are ready to listen to the stories behind the story, the Interactive setting of regalia and magical props will keep them thoroughly engaged.
For Grade 1 aged children the same is true as for Pre-school to K. While the story is written for a younger audience, it will be introduced from the focus everyone is a creative person, some are writers, artists, musicians, dancers; and others are gardeners, builders, doctors etc. Everyone has a dream, and our dreams begin when we are young, old and in between; just as Long Stalk's dream began before he found East End Park, and my creative dream to write children's stories began when i was 32 years old. Understanding our dreams begin and change gives us the power to believe in ourselves to accomplish our goals. While along the way, our friendships and everything we are learning and experiencing becomes the stepping-stones to our dreams becoming real.
For Grades 2-7 and Secondary Education students, the Interactive Storytime Experience becomes a Creative Art and Writing Workshop where I present the steps I made in the Creative and Production process to reach a finished product and bring a published Storybook to market. From goofy looking felt board characters, to Dummy Books, to an Interactive Play, and published Storybook; to an Interactive Storytime Experience, Opening Credit Roll for an Animated series, Storytime Web Channel, and future published stories-; the Creative Dream always begins with a fearless imagination to be oneself and trust in one's own uniqueness and expression.
For all age groups the message is the same... to come together to build a Whirling Rainbow Bridge of Friendship toward Peace in our world through sharing our stories, and honoring all life upon our sacred planet, Mother Earth, and to heal our planet and selves through the Sacred Rainbow Circle.
